# The words, defined.

The PREVIZ glossary defines 29 terms a production meets: the platform's own — a lock that follows a face into every studio, a check that grades each render against it, an agent that plans from a paragraph — and the industry's words around them. Each is one line; 11 have a page of their own.

The platform's own terms and the industry's around them, with a page behind each one that has a place in the product.

Pre-production has a vocabulary of its own, and PREVIZ adds a few words to it. The platform terms below name things you will press. The industry terms are the ones a first-time producer or a client meets on a call and would rather not ask about. Where a term has a home in the product, its page says where that is and what sits beside it.

- **21:9 · 16:9 · 9:16 · 4:3** — Aspect ratios — image width-to-height proportions.
- **4K / 12K** — Image resolution in thousands of horizontal pixels — the upscale pipeline's range (12K Master is the engine maximum).
- **CGI

Computer-Generated Imagery** — Fully synthetic visuals.
- **DP

Director of Photography** — The cinematographer role in team collaboration.
- **OOH

Out-Of-Home** — Billboards and transit advertising — "key art, OOH" in the ads vertical.
